A vector is a type of image file that is defined using points, curves, and basic shapes. This means that a vector can be rendered at very high resolution without loss of quality. Most image formats are rasters, which are more like a grid, with a color defined at each grid point. As you try to expand a raster image, you lose quality and the picture gets blurry.
